A Little about Me

Irreverent Reverend; Celibate Celebrant; Sacred Crossing Guard. I am a newly certified Death Midwife, working in hospice, home/alternative funerals and green burial. After two decades as a working actress in Hollywood, I am moving my life down to Ecuador, where I have purchased a small orchard. Once established there, I would like to develop an intentional community of short & longterm residents. In addition to offering services in end-of-life care, I would love for people to offer donation-based educational workshops.

My Build Projects

UPDATE: We are currently seeking *builders* to complete our bamboo construction (June); and starting a small bioconstruction & composting toilet build (July/August). Would love to have a skilled gardener to rescue our (trampled by horses)...

Why I Build Sustainably

With more than 7 billion humans on this planet, I think sustainable is the only type of construction we should even be considering. Ecuador has done a better job than most countries to preserve their natural habitats. Terra Nova would like to continue this tradition.

Skills I would like to Work on or Share.

At Terra Nova, I'd love to create an outdoor schoolhouse where one can learn indigenous & practical living skills, such as growing organic food, tending to animals (pets with benefits!), and building solar ovens, composting toilets, pedal-powered washing machines, etc.; a spiritual retreat for yoga, meditation, music, writing and deep personal development; a home for those who wish to live a deeper and more meaningful existence than one of a piling up inbox and incessant texting - far from the madding crowd.

My Building Qualifications

None! I am simply the steward of this land.

My Occupation

Building Styles I'm Interested in

Cob
Rammed Earth
Earthship/used tires
Straw Bale
Adobe/Mud Bricks
Reclaimed Materials
Local Materials (ie Sustainable Wood)
Thatched
Stone/Flint walls
Tree house!
I would love to be able to host up to 12 guests at Terra Nova - both short & longterm. I want people to be comfortable while living very simply and close to the earth. We have a lot of natural beauty surrounding us, so will be building to suit the environment.

My Eating Habits

Vegetarian
Vegan
I look forward to preparing preserved foods - probiotic pickle, kimchee, chutney, jam, etc. - from the food we grow at Terra Nova. Ideally, we could then trade these with people in the region for other goods & services.
